The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the archival department of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS), offered its annual free, all-day genealogy workshop on Saturday, at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater.
This year’s speaker was African-American specialist Angela Walton-Raji, originally from Fort Smith.
The seminar focused on researching Nurses, Matrons, Laundresses & Cooks….the speaker looked at finding Indian Ancestors in African American Families.
She told the audience about resources in African American genealogy and the Freedman’s Bureau.
This CALS workshop was geared to helping genealogists in the audience of all levels sharpen their genealogical skills and enlarge the scope of their research on the family.
