GMT Turned Aerated Piles for digestate and bulking materials.

This video describes a 2017 compost system designed by Green Mountain Technologies. The design is used by a customer to process treatment plant sludges with bulking agents like green waste or rice hulls and/or palm fiber. Digestate from digesters can also be composted this way, as they can be quite dense and sticky, and work best if mixed extensively during the composting process.

GMT’s new designs allow the common straddle type windrow turner to operate on a concrete aeration floor. Windrow turners process a significant amount of material in a very short time. The aeration system speeds up the processing time even more by assuring fully aerobic conditions and automated temperature control. This cuts the required composting time in half to less than 45 days. Depending on the size of your windrow turner, each row will have one to three aeration pipes embedded below the concrete to deliver air to the windrow using high velocity nozzles to self-clear during the turning. The aeration flow is reversible with air pulled from the piles going into curing piles and/or biofilters.
